We believe in holistic health management and will work with you and other health care professionals to ensure you get the treatment you need to get back to full function, specific to you and your body as quickly as possible.

At Eastern Physiotherapy we provide treatment across the spectrum of physiotherapy needs, from sports related injury and prevention, to age related function and everything in between.

Our practice is based on a holistic approach that encompasses the New Zealand Physiotherapy principles.  Our team of physiotherapists are highly skilled and highly educated,  and are ready to provide professional treatment, education and self care in a welcoming environment.

Sport and therapeutic massage

Massage on it’s own and complementary to Physiotherapy treatment provides a wide range of benefits to the individual.  Those benefits include; injury treatment, rehabilitation, relaxation, maintenance of muscle movement and function. Kieran utilises techniques such as  deep tissue trigger point release, myofascial cupping, passive stretching and active release therapy.

At Eastern Physiotherapy we offer Western Scientific Acupuncture and/or Trigger Point Dry Needling. These practices have evolved from the Traditional Chinese Acupuncture Method, used by the Chinese people for over 3000 years for pain relief, healing and general well being.

Acupuncture treatment is most often used in conjunction with other therapies within a treatment session and can be used to relieve pain via stimulation of the nervous system to release neuro-chemicals. Trigger Point Dry Needling is a form of more rapid, short term needling often used to release myofascial trigger points.

Complex pain

We understand the difficulties in managing Complex pain.  We will work alongside other health professionals to assist patients in the management and treatment of pain.

Physiotherapy intervention could include, but is not limited to: Tens, Aquatic therapy, Mirror therapy, Desensitisation, Graduated weight bearing,  Strengthening and Stretching programmes.

Workplace Assessment

At Eastern Physiotherapy we offer workplace assessments.  We value the role of businesses in our community and it is a privilege to support them to provide the best environment for staff.

We can work with the workplace to; set up and modify work stations and identify potential risk areas for that occupation and educate on how to eliminate that risk. Instruction on correct posture, biomechanics, lifting technique and manual handling tasks specific to the occupation are integral to the success of the workplace.

Surgical rehabilitation

Rehabilitation is the post-surgical program of re-establishing joint motion, muscle strength around the joint and finally joint function.  The difference between the length of the surgery and the time needed for rehabilitation is huge, and patients should have that clearly in mind.

Physiotherapy rehabilitation aims to optimise patient function and well-being, to help integrate patients back into their chosen lifestyle activities whether at home, work or leisure. Physiotherapists will provide in-clinic care, a graduated and guided home exercise programme as well as education surrounding the injury and post surgical recovery expectations.

Exercise Prescription

At Eastern Physiotherapy we offer Exercise Prescription as part of our treatment plan.  We stand by our role to promote, prescribe and manage exercise programs and see it as an important part of functional maintenance across the life span.  Your physiotherapist will determine the best prescription specific for you and your function, which may include a combination of strengthening, stretching and functional movement.
